Discover the new, revolutionary anti-aging treatment being offered in San Antonio.prp therapy

While we may all wish that we had Peter Pan’s magical non-aging abilities, we all know that this isn’t exactly plausible. Of course, instead of searching fruitlessly for Neverland you can turn to our San Antonio, TX dermatologists Dr. Rebecca Kelso and Dr. Emily Fridlington to get the cosmetic care you need to smooth out those pesky lines and wrinkles. Find out how PRP therapy could give you a more youthful glow.

What is PRP therapy?

PRP, which stands for platelet rich plasma, takes platelets from your very own blood to improve the appearance of your skin. Whether you are noticing that skin has started to dull, lose elasticity or develop more lines and wrinkles, PRP therapy could help to improve the look, feel and firmness of your skin.

Platelets not only stimulate the production of collagen, which helps improve skin’s firmness and elasticity, but they also help to smooth away lines to improve the overall tone and texture of your skin.

How does PRP therapy work?

Our San Antonio skin doctors will first need to collect a sample of blood, which will be placed into a centrifuge to separate platelets and plasma from the rest of your blood. Plasma contains the highest concentration of platelets that when injected into the skin helps to restructure collagen and enhance your skin’s appearance.

The procedure only takes about 15 minutes to complete and is minimally invasive. Better yet, there is no recovery time after the treatment. While some people may experience some minor redness or irritation after the injection, this usually goes away in a couple of days. Plus, since PRP is taken directly from your blood you won’t have to worry about any complications or side effects from this treatment.

When will results show up?

It will take about three to four weeks for the PRP treatment to kick in and for you to see results. Usually, people will benefit from two or three sessions, which will be performed about a month or so apart from each other. Depending on your treatment goals, you can also combine this procedure with other cosmetic dermatology treatments.

Are you ready to find out if PRP therapy is what you need to refresh your appearance in San Antonio, TX? If so, then turn to the experts at Alamo Heights Dermatology who can give you the results you’re looking for.
